fun technique with distress product…

so, i have this project that i am trying to finish for the booth using crafter’s workshop. i love their templates and we have tons of them. i know b/c i am the one who has to inventory them.

i want to make a showdow box of a pic of livie, my niece. well, in the pic there is a picket fence in the background at the beach in gulf shores. this is exactly a year ago. of course i never buy stickers, because i like to make stuff/alter. here are the results of my fence. i think it came out better than i had imagined.

i used coffee stirring sticks from a coffee shop at the new orleans airport – dont know where else to find them – and the pictured distress products. simple.

back from valley forge…

what a show! i dont know what else to say. it was a crazy ride. but, i love seeing my friends and making new ones. terri and i of course got lost in Philadelphia. it always happens in PA! their streets are even numbered, but we still manage to drive around in circles.

we did eat at the same restaurant for three days! it is called max and erma’s. good tasting food! awesome burgers and desserts.

on the home front, we bought the kid a new car! she was so happy and excited. color guard practice started today. she loves it, but i always feel like she is never home. our pool guy is working hard to clean up that mess of a pool. maybe we can swim in a week – or two!

here is a new and an older layout:

ImageImageImageImage

the first layout is pink paislee portfolio with their resist hearts. i love those hearts. i want them on everything. buttons are jenni bowlin and resin flowers are mon ami gabby. and dollies are martha stewart. they are so nice and thick. i hand cut the blue hearts. i like how they are not the same size and shape. the orange is heidi swapp’s mist, but we are not carrying it anymore b/c it’s now in michael’s. so, you buy it with a coupon. the background paper is pink paislee’s resist paper with granite glimmer mist. my new favorite combo is granite glimmer mist with weathered wood and china blue distress ink together. yummy color of blue.

second one is basic grey with some vintage goodies and prima gears. oh, and a tim holtz charm.the black twine is american crafts. i am obsessed with wrapping twine and baker’s twine around my layouts. so vintage looking and cheap!

my prayers go out to the people of boston. i go to manchester, new hampshire in a week, which is only 35 minutes from boston. it’s such a great city with so much of our melting pot that represents our fine country. the older i get the more crazy people seem to be. who knows why, but we as americans can survive and prosper. thanks for taking time to read my silly thoughts. i hope all is well with you and yours.

Jaxson’s first b-day pics…

image

Here ya go, jaxson! I love this sweet little boy with his blonde hair. It will be in the booth starting Thursday by either the distress markers or glimmer mist – not sure yet! I’ll let Teri decide. Love all the white. It really shows his bib and hair! Of course there is that lovely stamps of life background stamp. Easy to use. See ya in valley forge on Friday and Saturday.

a new fun idea for distress markers and glimmer mist…

so, you know how much i love mists, right? well, i’ve made a deal with tattered angels and we will now carry even more their glimmer mist and chalkboard mist. LOVE!!!! This meant that today I just had to play with glimmer mist. i bought this new stamp from The Stamps of Life. I LOVE these stamps. I am totally addicted and not in a good way! I see Stephanie at shows and we are both bad in each others booths! oh, and i am a member of her monthly club. I made this today:

I stamped using Stephanie’s new gumdrops background stamp and embossed in Distress embossing powder (black soot), colored with many shades of Distress Markers, sprayed with graphite glimmer mist, and then edged with distress ink. It’s so pretty. I’m going to use Jaxson’s pictures with it. Can’t wait. But i wanted to share the big news about starting to carry even more glimmer mist and chalkboard mist. have a great evening.

new layout…

i’ve been busy getting ready for classes for upcoming events and all the kitting and organizing that goes into a show. we’ve had two shows this year that were great! i do love meeting new people and seeing friends.

NPD is my dream job, but it is work. teri and i spend a lot of time walking to convention halls, locating convention halls, finding food and water, trying to stuff one more paper container into a pod, and trying to eat before 9 pm!

last show an entire wall of gidwall and product fell. yes, fell. no one was hurt, but now i have about 1000 prima ink pads mixed together. yup, about 1000! oh and teri got smacked with a piece of gridwall. the bruise was unbelievable! huge, purple with whelms in the middle. not a pretty picture. but we are so glamorous flying to place to place to peddle our wares. we look like a hot, sweaty, dirty mess on thursday nights walking out of a convention hall trying to find the car, hop a cab, run-down the hotel shuttle, or cross a busy intersection. we should have theme music! but it beats being locked in a room with kids! kwim?!

but a lot of kinks have been ironed out. so, ya’ll know teri is my friend and right-hand woman. she is great to travel with and i wanted to pick on her a bit. so this is dedicated to her.

this is what we have worked out in less than a year: i always get the bed closest to the window and ac. i always shower first. i try not to make a mess on the nightstand – drives teri crazy! i always buy her water at the vending machine. we both celebrate when the convention center/restaurant/hotel/gas station sells sprite!

some funny things about teri: she spends about an hour a night putting on lotion, she uses ten different moisturizers, she texts more than anyone, she has to sleep with earplugs (i snore), she always packs the night before, she changes clothes before pack-up, she’s always the last one to be dressed, she doesnt like to share the nightstand, she thinks airport shopping is the greatest, she doesnt like going to malls, she never picks a restaurant, she will not decide what we are eating, she wears shorts no matter what the weather, she cooks in convention halls, she is called cajun by the other vendors, and she always puts up g45.

what im grateful for: she likes to drive! she can tell directions from an iphone! she can tell a funny story! she can pick up a heavy box and lift it above her head! she likes being bossy! she buys sharpies! she can make an epoxy number 3! she can take the rings when ive had enough! she remembers pod keys! she likes to pack! she will tell people stuff i dont want to! she’ll talk to people i dont want to! she can work through a tummy ache! she can skip meals because we are too busy to eat! she always makes me eat!

i can go on and on. we are a good pair. we are great friends who can say we’ve been lost for hours in PA at night on back country roads and had a great time. we laughed so hard together while driving by cows, horses, neighborhoods, and fields of hay. we did finally find the hotel. but, two days later we were stranded again but without a hotel!

thanks, teri!

ok. here is a new one. i’ll be teaching this in Arlington this summer. i used a set of stamps by the stamps of life. they are so cute. the paper is authentique. it’s a pic of marti and livi
